It is interesting to note that clean towns and villages are one of the top priorities for our government, at the same time it is our immense duty too. To encourage the engagement of citizens’ in the cleanliness for the sake of hygienic environment and
health of people, DDPL organized Swachta Abhiyan as a part of 2017’s social initiative mission. More than 500 volunteers has joined DDPL’s Swachta Abhiyan on Sunday, Feb. 26, at this month’s Neighborhood Clean Team event in
association with Surat Municipal Corporation to spruce up streets and commercial corridors located in Gotalawadi area of Surat and nearby neighborhoods.
The morning’s largest project had volunteers collecting and removing debris along the Gotalawadi area between Katargam Road & Nandu Doshi Wadi.
The event was honored by Shri Nanubhai Vanani, Minister of Water Resources, Primary and Secondary Education, Gujarat and delegates from Municipal Corporation.
On the occasion, Mr. Hitesh Patel, MD of DDPL stated that this is the start and will never end till it became our habit. The program is already successful as other companies in nearby area has already decided to continue
this abhiyan for upcoming weeks, he added.
Citizens are unanimous in their feedback for the Clean City Mission that this cleanliness event is the starting point. Sufficient public toilets and dustbins are a must, garbage collection should be efficient, and
stringent laws should be imposed on people found spitting and throwing garbage.
